Fire Service Honor Outstanding Recruit.

The Choccy played a quality evening earlier in December, for the South-West Fire Service.
There were some wonderful speeches and awards, to honor this gallant collection of men and women.
One young man stood out, for outstanding service to the Brigade.
During 2009 he single-handedly rescued 43 cats from trees. Some as high as 5 feet! (trees not cats)
This was a UK record, and when the young man went on stage to collect his medal and rosette, he stunned the watching audience, by announcing that earlier that evening, he had, without any direct orders from his superiors, spent at least 45 minutes greasing his pole, and if anyone wanted to see it, he was more than happy to allow a full inspection.

CLIC SARGENT EVENT RAISES £5250.00!!!

The CLIC Sargent event held at Sandbay Holiday Village on 30th January 2009 raised over £5250 for the charity.
Despite numbers being down on previous years this event was still extremely well attended and great fun!
The bands were all superb - The Dynamos Rhythm Aces, Doctor Chocolate, Midnight Shadows, The Decoys and Ryan Inglis were superb and had feet tapping and people dancing all evening. Pierre the compere for the evening kept everyone guessing which frock he would wear next and linked all the evening's events. Sadly there was no chocolate fountain as the supplier had to pull out at the last minute.
The event for 2010 has had to be cancelled sadly due to the venue not being available but the event planned for 2011 will be bigger and better so watch this space.
So far the Chocs have raised over £51,250 for CLIC Sargent alone and also been part of many other fundraising events that have raised in excess of £350,000!

Choc Wedding Fest !

What a year it has been so far for weddings.

Over the years the band has played at so many brilliant private weddings, and had such fun, the scent of love in the air has gone to their heads!

In early summer the guitar player got married, and who else could have been the featured band at the wedding? Thats right! The Chocs!

Then Paul the bass player, caught up in the romance, married his beautiful bride Tania. The band? The Chocs!

Next up, Tim, our secret reserve drummer, also got married. The band? THE MIGHTY CHOCS!

And, to end this glorious wedding season, none other than the Chocs own front man, Matt married his lovely lady Keisha in October.

And you guessed it! The Chocs yet again were the main event.

Q: Who puts the FUN in your FUNction?
A: THE CHOCS!!!!!

Have you got your Halloween outfits ready?
Because the Chocs have!
We are looking forward this weekend to playing at a brilliant private party, where it is absolutely essential to wear fancy dress.
We have played a number of these before and it never ceases to amaze us the amount of different outfits that appear year after year.
This booking has been in the diary for quite a while now, so if you are thinking of doing something similar next year, please contact us, with your ideas and hopefully we can scare the living daylights out of you too!
Remember, the Chocs play at EVERY type of function, and you have to ask yourself the question "who put's the FUN in it" ?
answers on a postcard .

Is this your venue?

We, at the Choc headquarters in deepest Somerset, like to think that we are a wholesome, hard working band, who give exceptional value for money.

Sometimes, very rarely, we come up against some difficult situations. Namely, difficult get-in's and get-outs!!

No matter how diligent we are, and how conciencious we feel about doing the right thing, sometimes we can be let down by our normally brilliant clients, not telling us the whole truth about the 'get-in'!

This picture is the 'wonka golden ticket' of all get-in's!

Its like a double sided coin, or maybe a dead-cert tip off on a horse race, or maybe its just a smile from a pretty girl (back off Matt).

But this particular gig has gone down in history as far as the Chocs are concerned, as being the easiest ever gig to load the gear into!!

We will publish in the near future, the WORST ever get-in's. But... rest assured dear clients, that even in the worst case scenario get-ins, the party themselves have usually been some of the best we have played, so all is not lost!

Just remember to tell us if you know its going to be 'proper work'!

Bass Player loses Chocolate Finger!

Doctor Chocolate's supremo bass player Paul "the fingers" Newton now has one less to play with!
At a recent Christmas Party where Doctor Chocolate were booked to play at Cabot Circus, Paul partly amputated his finger on a door and had to be rushed to hospital to try and save it. The only thought on Paul's mind was playing the gig as he didn't want to let the band or the client down! Awwww........ anyway, didn't have a choice in the matter and was taken away to the nearest hospital.
Coming to the rescue on the evening was Matt Venn, who is lead vocalist with the Chocs, but just so happens to be an awesome bass player to boot! Matt played bass and sang lead vocals, not only for this gig but for the next one too!
Assistance also came from Rob, not only a talented keyboard player but vocalist too, who joined in with the audience participation numbers and really got the crowd going. Of course whilst Rob was out front there was no-one on keys....... until Dan our Saxophonist started playing them! What a talented and versatile bunch of ........chocolates!
Paul came back half way through the night with his hand all bandaged and received lots of sympathy from the ladies! He was sent home to rest his finger - despite his protests that he would be ok and wanted to play the gig!!???
We are still waiting to hear about Paul's finger - whether it can be saved or whether it will be amputated by the plastic surgeon or even left to drop off by itself - yuk! Next installment coming soon....
